
The Indian team has won the Asia Cup Hockey title by defeating Korea 4-1 in the final played in Rajgir. India has won the title for the fourth time. Dilpreet Singh scored two goals for the Indian team while Sukhjit Singh and Amit Rohidas scored one goal each.
For the Indian team’s victory, Hockey India has announced Rs 3 lakh for all the players of the team and Rs 1.5 lakh for the support staff.
After the victory, there is a festive atmosphere in the Indian team camp. Wishes are pouring in from all over the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also congratulated the team.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on Instagram, “Congratulations to our men’s hockey team for the magnificent victory in the Asia Cup 2025 held in Rajgir, Bihar. This victory is even more special because they defeated the defending champions South Korea. This is a proud moment for Indian hockey and Indian sports. May our players reach greater heights and bring glory to the country.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey while talking to IANS said, “I congratulate every player of the Indian team. In the last two years, we have won Olympic medals, Asian Games, Asian Championships and now the Asia Cup. The victory against Korea in the final was very impressive.”
Coach Craig Fulton said, “Our target was to win the Asia Cup and qualify for the Hockey World Cup 2026 and we have achieved that. However, we were thinking about this tournament earlier. I am proud of the boys in the team.”
CaptainHarmanpreet Singh said, “We entered the Asia Cup with the target of winning the World Cup and qualifying. The performance in the initial matches was not as expected, but we repeated. Our performance in the important matches was good and we tried to do better.”
