Why was Isfahan the target of America?
The city of Isfahan has long been an eyesore for the US and Israel. Defense experts believe that Iran has hidden about 540 kg of its enriched uranium in underground facilities here. There are also reports of Israeli involvement along with the US in this attack that took place on Tuesday. Interestingly, the 15-point demands sent by Trump to Iran included the condition of completely destroying nuclear centers like Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow, which Iran had outrightly rejected.
Bunker Buster Bombs: The nemesis of enemies hidden in the depths
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, ‘Penetrator Munitions,’ i.e., piercing weapons, have been used in large quantities in this attack. These are special types of bombs called bunker busters. Their purpose is to destroy labs and missile storage built deep underground. Israel had also fired missiles at the military infrastructure of Tehran and Isfahan last Friday, but this fresh US attack has further fanned the flames of war.

The target was a ‘Mahan Air’ aircraft which was preparing to take off for India carrying humanitarian relief material (medicines and medical equipment). This aircraft had collected relief material from many countries and brought it to Iran and it was scheduled to reach New Delhi at 4 AM on April 1st. The aircraft has suffered significant damage in the US airstrike, causing this important mission to stop midway.
