Nepal’s youth had previously been raising their voices against corruption, authoritarianism, economic inequality and lack of accountability in leadership. But when the government completely banned 26 social media platforms, the youth who were dreaming of their dreams on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube were crushed. Soon, the streets of major cities in Nepal turned into battlefields. 19 people were killed in Nepali police firing. Seeing such a situation, the government has now lifted the ban on the banned app. Meanwhile, who was the mastermind of such a large-scale violence, it has come to light.
According to information, an organization called Hami Nepal worked to bring Nepal’s youth together against the government’s decision. The head of this organization is Sudan Gurung. Sudan Gurung, 36, the face of Nepal’s Gen-G revolution, sensed the anger of Nepali youth at the right time. He then set about transforming the youth’s anger into a movement.
It is said that Gurung took advantage of the youth’s anger over the government’s decision and spread this anger across Nepal through various networks. Sudan Gurung is the founder and president of Hami Nepal. This organization gave momentum and direction to the Gen-G movement.
