What did Trump say about the second round of talks ?
Speaking to the media, Trump said, “They are very eager to make a deal. We have received a message from the other side. We have a blockade in place. They are not doing any business. Iran is doing no business at all, and we will keep it that way. There is no fighting going on right now.”
The US President reiterated that Iran will never have nuclear weapons. He stated that if they do not agree, there will be no deal. He added that we cannot allow any country to blackmail the world and we will not let that happen.
Vance says—Progress made in talks with Iran
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance, in an interview with Fox News, said that Iran has shown some progress in talks on the nuclear issue, which clearly indicates that the path for dialogue between the US and Iran is becoming clear. He mentioned that we want to conclude this process through a large and successful agreement, and President Trump does not intend to prolong this process. However, he also stated that Iran must take the steps forward to advance the negotiations.
US considering date and location
Accrding to officials within the Donald Trump administration are internally discussing preparations for a possible second face-to-face meeting with Iran. This meeting could be held before the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran expires next week. US officials are considering possible dates and locations, provided ongoing negotiations with Iran and regional mediators progress in the coming days. According to the report, Geneva and Islamabad have emerged as potential locations for the next talks. The report also states that Turkey is attempting to bridge the gap between the US and Iran.
Will the meeting not be held in Pakistan this time ?
The second round of talks between the US and Iran could take place in Islamabad or Geneva. These talks are likely to take place as early as April 16th, two days later. However, it has not yet been officially decided in which country or when. During the talks in Islamabad, the US demanded that Iran cease uranium enrichment for 20 years and remove its highly enriched stockpile from the country. Iran proposed a shorter-term and controlled reduction. Differences on this issue prevented an agreement. However, it has now emerged that Iran has agreed to some compromise on nuclear enrichment.
