The United States has attacked the IRGC’s underground headquarters in Tehran, Iran, using bunker-buster bombs. This was a “double strike” in which several IRGC commanders and rescue workers are reported to have been killed. On the orders of CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper, several B-2 aircraft took off from Whiteman Air Force Base on a 36-hour flight and dropped massive bunker-buster bombs.
According to Fox News, the US targeted an underground IRGC headquarters in Tehran with B-2 bombers. When medical teams arrived for rescue operations after the initial strike, a second aerial attack was launched. Information suggests that bunker-buster bombs were used in these strikes. In this double strike by the US, it is feared that several IRGC commanders as well as members of the rescue teams have died.
These bombs were the same ones previously used against Iranian nuclear sites. The target of this attack was a location where senior IRGC commanders had gathered. US officials state that the facility has been completely destroyed, and it is believed that many commanders were killed.
Trump Issued Threats Hours Earlier
This attack occurred just hours after Trump threatened a major assault on Iran during a press briefing. He spoke of finishing Iran in a single night and targeting its energy, water, gas, and other civilian infrastructure. Trump stated that if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened by Wednesday, he will launch a massive attack on Iran. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that fierce attacks on Iran are ongoing and could become even more terrifying tomorrow.
Iran’s Appeal to Youth Following Energy Infrastructure Threats
Following Trump’s threat to attack the country’s energy infrastructure, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Alireza Rahimi, has appealed to Iranians to form human chains near power plants across the country tomorrow afternoon to protest the US bombing threats. The Youth Minister urged the country’s youth, artists, and athletes to participate.
Iran’s Admission
Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Iran has claimed that IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) Intelligence Chief Major General Majid Khatami was killed in a joint US-Israeli attack on the morning of April 6, 2026. Iran has confirmed the death of Majid Khatami, which is a major blow to Iran’s security apparatus.
Reports indicate that IRGC spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naeini was also killed in an airstrike. The 68-year-old Brigadier General Naeini was appointed to this position in 2024. The IRGC issued a statement saying he was killed in a “cowardly attack by the US and Israel.” His death occurred while he was on national TV making a statement about Iran’s missile capabilities, claiming that despite the war, Iran’s missile production capacity remains fully active.
Several Top Iranian Officials Killed
Prior to this, several senior Iranian military and political officials had already died, causing significant loss to the country’s top leadership. According to reports, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also died in a joint military operation at the end of February, after which his son Mojtaba Khamenei was given the responsibility in his place. Additionally, Ali Larijani (head of the Supreme National Security Council), his son, and several associates have died in attacks. Furthermore, the death of Brigadier General Gholamreza Soleimani, head of the Basij paramilitary forces, and Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib has been confirmed, significantly impacting Iran’s security structure.
Middle East Tensions at a Peak
Meanwhile, Israel has also claimed to have killed Esmail Ahmadi, a senior intelligence official associated with the IRGC and Basij. However, Iranian officials have not officially confirmed this claim. Amidst these developments, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the country’s political structure does not depend on any single individual and such incidents will not have a major impact on the system of governance. Simultaneously, reports of strategic differences between the US and Israel have also surfaced, further complicating the conflict.
