Mamata Didi retreats after being scared of “Sir” – but Rahul continues to charge like a bull
…………………………………………………………………….
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has been vocal about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), has suddenly gone silent on the issue as the 2026 elections approach. Accusations of protecting illegal immigrants could anger Hindu voters.
But Rahul Gandhi doesn’t seem to be in the mood to concede defeat on this issue. Instead of reviewing the election results, the Congress called a meeting to review the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. The issue of vote theft remains the central theme of Rahul Gandhi’s entire political discourse.
As the Congress party continues to analyze its defeat, vote theft seems to be the easiest reason for Rahul Gandhi to see. Therefore, he remains adamant on this issue. But this seems to be akin to a dove closing its eyes to a cat.
The Congress and Rahul Gandhi consider themselves followers of Mahatma Gandhi, but when it comes to following his ideals, they seem to be walking different paths. When Mahatma Gandhi led the first Satyagraha in Champaran, he said that truth should be presented in a form that can be presented anywhere and cannot be proven wrong. However, Rahul Gandhi’s claims of vote theft are presented only in his press conferences and are subsequently proven wrong in every investigation. This undermines his seriousness and credibility with the public.
Rahul alleges that the BJP stole votes in Karnataka in the Lok Sabha elections, even though the Congress government was in power there. However, a year before the Lok Sabha elections, Congress won the assembly elections with a landslide victory using the same voter list and the same Election Commission. This means that the BJP did not steal votes in the 2023 assembly elections, but did so in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP stole votes in 2024 where the Congress government was in power, but in Maharashtra, where the BJP itself was in power, the BJP did not steal votes in the Lok Sabha elections and lost badly. These facts do not align with Rahul Gandhi’s allegations.
After the Bihar assembly election results, Rahul posted on Instagram that the SIR had stolen democracy. He also said that the Election Commission was a puppet of the BJP. Perhaps through this strategy, Rahul wants to prevent rebellion within the party by portraying his defeat as a conspiracy of the system.
Despite not receiving the support he needed from the India Block on the SIR, Rahul Gandhi is maintaining his emphasis on this issue. 272 senior officials, including 16 former judges, 123 retired bureaucrats, 14 former ambassadors and 133 former military officers, have also written to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing the Election Commission of tarnishing its image over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the country.
In a collective letter, they accused Congress and opposition leaders of continuously trying to tarnish the reputation of constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, through baseless allegations. Rahul Gandhi claims to have evidence against the Election Commission, yet no complaint has been filed. This clearly indicates that the Election Commission is being solely discredited. However, this letter appears to have no effect on Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress Party is planning to hold a massive rally against the SIR at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan in the first week of December. It would have been better if Rahul Gandhi had taken the initiative to take responsibility for Congress’s defeat in the Bihar elections, but he did not.
