America was merely dreaming, but China turned it into reality. In short, the entire world witnessed an unprecedented power shift, the likes of which no one could have imagined. For decades, the US had envisioned leading the Earth into a new era of missile defense, building a space-based fortification that would protect humanity from destruction. But while Washington was still formulating plans, Beijing made it a reality, sending a clear message to the world: “Decide who the superpower is!”
Indeed, China has developed a prototype of a real, functional global missile defense network called the “Big Data Platform.” The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) deployed it directly without waiting for any approvals or completion. Now, with the prototype operational, a miraculous transformation has taken place. While the US has only a concept, China has a concrete reality.
The US called its vision “Golden Dome.” A planetary defense shield, space-based and powered by artificial intelligence (AI), capable of detecting and destroying any missile launched from anywhere on Earth. Announced by Donald Trump in 2025, the system promised to revolutionize global security. But while the Pentagon was embroiled in debates over budget and data flow, Chinese engineers jumped into the fray.
According to Li Xudong’s team at the Nanjing Research Institute of Electronics Technology, China’s premier defense research institute, this breakthrough lies not just in missiles or satellites, but in a revolution in data processing. Their system can track 1,000 missiles simultaneously fired at China from anywhere on Earth. Using a vast network of sensors spanning space, sea, air, and land, it collects, analyzes, and prioritizes threats in real time.
Every trajectory, every warhead, every decoy is identified, cataloged, and information is sent to central command before impact. The PLA’s system doesn’t rely solely on radar or satellites; it integrates data from multiple suppliers, at different times, and from diverse military platforms.
Meanwhile, across the Pacific, the American Golden Dome remains a pipe dream, mired in internal disputes. Its estimated cost ranges from £140 billion to trillions of pounds. In July, US Space Force General Michael Gueitlin admitted that no one, not even he, had any clear information about the ‘Golden Dome’.
