Dharashakti electronic warfare system
Countries with weak electronic power can no longer fight for long in pmodern warfare. Keeping this in mind, DRDO has developed the Dharashakti ground-based electronic warfare system for the Indian Army.
India’s Strengths in Electronic Warfare
Electronic warfare has become more important than bombs, missiles, and artillery in modern warfare. Keeping this in mind, India has also significantly increased its electronic warfare capabilities. DRDO has developed the Dharashakti ground-based electronic warfare system for the Indian Army. Now, there are plans to purchase it on a large scale and deploy it in areas near the border.
Importance of Electronic Warfare
Electronic warfare is the use of radio waves and cyber technologies on the battlefield to disrupt enemy communications, surveillance, and weapon systems. In modern warfare, countries with weak electronic power can no longer fight for long. A strong electronic warfare system provides an advantage against drones and digital threats.

What is ‘Dharashakti’?
To strengthen India’s defense preparedness against air threats, DRDO has developed an electronic warfare system called ‘Dharashakti’. It can be fitted on a truck and deployed anywhere on the ground.
Where will ‘Dharashakti’ be deployed?
Dharashakti will be deployed along the borders with Pakistan and China. The Ministry of Defense has approved over ₹5,000 crore for the purchase of this specialized electronic warfare system. The indigenous Dharashakti EW system will provide the country with a defensive shield along the borders.
Stronger than Israeli systems
The Dharashakti electronic warfare system is said to be more effective than the Israeli Scorpius-G system. This system is capable of jamming enemy electronic resources. Dharashakti is also effective against enemy Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems (AEWCS), fighter aircraft radars, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). It can also disrupt encrypted communication and navigation systems.
The Air Force will also use it
The Indian Air Force is also planning to deploy Dharashakti along sensitive borders. The Air Force’s objective is to neutralize potential threats and gain a strategic advantage in the region. This system’s ability to destroy enemy electronic systems will make the Indian forces lethal and powerful.
The Power of Indigenous
The induction of the Dharashakti system into the Indian Armed Forces is a significant step towards India’s self-reliance in advanced defense technologies. Dharashakti has been developed entirely indigenously in India. Its forward deployment will significantly enhance the armed forces’ electronic warfare capabilities.
