Due to internal strife, a landslide of division has now manifested itself in the BJD, a party that is widely divided within itself. Although the landslide is not that serious, it has all the signs of taking a large-scale form in the future. As a result, there is a strong discussion of forming a new regional party in Odisha with the disgruntled and revolutionary leaders of the party.
Recently, senior BJD leaders have gathered in Olasuni Gumpha, Jajpur district, in the name of a friendship meeting. At the invitation of Parvat Tripathi, senior leaders like Amar Prasad Satapathy, Soumyaranjan Patnaik, Ravi Pani, Prasanna Pattashani, Ramachandra Hansada discussed various political issues. It is said that the foundation of a new regional party has been laid in the festive atmosphere. While the leaders present dismissed it as a personal feast, it is believed that this could be a sign of a new discontented political movement.
The three major political parties BJP, BJD and Congress are now active in Odisha. After the BJD, which ruled the state for 24 years, was ousted from power in the last elections, BJP has formed the government alone for the first time. Now, as the main opposition party and a regional party, the BJD’s voice for the interests of Odisha is not being heard as much as it should have been. The voice of the BJD, which has been roaring against the BJP in the state, is softening in Delhi. At such a time, most leaders are of the opinion that an alternative regional party needs to be formed.”
“In the past, many regional parties were formed in the state, but over time, these parties have lost their relevance. The success that the BJD has achieved as a regional party has not been possible in any other party. Now efforts have been started to form another regional party.
Some senior leaders who played an important role during the formation of the BJD are in favor of forming a new regional party. Those who have left the BJD or left the BJD for various reasons; they have tried to form an alternative regional party instead of joining another party. In this context, some prominent leaders gathered in Ola Sandi on Wednesday. There is talk that another regional party may be born in the state in the future.
On the issue of gathering in Ola Sandi, senior leader Amar Prasad Satapathy said that Olasuni is a place of coordination. When political figures come together, it is natural to have various discussions. We have to see what the situation will be in politics at what time. In the current situation, there is no such proposal. Former MLA Soumyaranjan Patnaik said that if the regional party does not play a proper role, it is natural to form an alternative regional party. There is nothing surprising in this. Former MP Prasanna Pattashani said that everyone is together. No one is publishing. Information will be given when the time comes.”
It is worth noting that a few days ago, many senior leaders were seen gathering on one platform to discuss this issue. Now, after the senior leaders came together in the name of a friendship gathering, the discussion has progressed. On the other hand, even after the defeat, there is no sign of discontent in the BJD. There is discord among many leaders. In such a situation, political commentators are of the opinion that a new party can be formed by bringing together the disgruntled leaders of the BJD.
