Does starving really detox the body? Know what Ayurveda says
……………………………………………………………………..
Nowadays people are emphasizing on body detox. Body detox is also becoming a common process among people who want to lose weight. Many people think that you can detox the body by staying hungry or by skipping meals. Often such videos go viral on social media, in which the method of detoxifying the body by skipping meals is shown. Due to this method, the metabolism of many people slows down and there can also be a problem of indigestion or gas in the stomach.
In such a situation, it is important to know whether the body can really be detoxed by staying hungry or not. For better information on this subject, we spoke to Bharat Bhushan, Assistant Professor at Charak Medical College, Hapur and Dr. Rahul Chaturvedi, Ayurvedacharya of Rashtriya Samaj and Charitable Service Institute, Ghaziabad.
What is body detox?
Body detox means cleaning the body from inside by removing harmful elements (toxins) from it. These toxins can accumulate due to unbalanced diet, pollution, stress or bad lifestyle. During detox, emphasis is laid on improving digestion and metabolism so that the body can remove these harmful elements on its own. According to the report of America’s National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), a healthy lifestyle like balanced diet, regular exercise and adequate sleep should be adopted to promote the body’s natural detox process. Adopting detox diets and fasting without expert advice can be harmful to health.
Does fasting really detox the body?
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, many people believe that skipping meals detoxes the body and reduces weight, but Ayurveda says something else. According to Ayurveda, irregular eating habits weaken the digestive fire, which slows down metabolism and causes toxins to accumulate in the body. Therefore, instead of skipping meals, eating regular and balanced meals is the secret to detoxifying the body and good health.
Ayurvedic Way Of Body Detox
B Ayurvedacharya Dr. Rahul Chaturvedi said that the safest and natural way to cleanse the body is to keep the digestive fire strong. If the fire is strong, the food will be completely digested and the chances of toxin formation will be reduced.
Take a light diet. Moong dal khichdi, soup, herbal tea and light food relax the digestion.
Eat food at regular times. Eating food at the same time every day keeps the digestive fire balanced.
Drink lukewarm water. This cleanses the body and improves metabolism.
Consume Ayurvedic medicines. Medicines like Triphala, ginger, cumin, celery increase digestive power. Include them in the diet.
Include adequate sleep, yoga and pranayama in your routine.
Ayurveda believes that detox does not happen by any strict hunger or diet, but by a proper routine, balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
Conclusion:
Ayurveda says that starving is not necessary to detox the body. Balanced meals at the right time, light exercise and good sleep are the effective ways for real detox.
