Turkey, which considers itself the king of the Mediterranean Sea, has made a grave mistake by messing with India. In fact, while attempting to surround India’s Trikand warship, India was threatened with an 18-hour ultimatum: “Remove it or face dire consequences.” Following this, India not only responded with a befitting reply to Turkey but also increased Saudi Arabia’s tensions. India deployed four warships in the Mediterranean Sea, forcing Turkey to retreat, making it realize that messing with India could be dangerous for it.
The Mediterranean Sea is crucial for India’s trade. All trade from Russia to India passes through this route. Additionally, trade with Middle Eastern nations like Kazakhstan and Tajikistan also passes through the Mediterranean. Turkey dominates the Mediterranean Sea, while the rest are smaller nations like Azerbaijan, Algeria, Cyprus, and Greece. We have taken several steps to improve relations between India and Turkey. When Turkey was hit by an earthquake, India launched Operation Dost. India became the first nation to provide aid in this time of crisis. However, Turkey’s ruler, Erdogan, aspires to become the Caliph of Islamic nations. He sold his drones to a neighboring country during the war between India and Pakistan.
Turkey has ongoing conflicts with three nations: Algeria, Cyprus, and Greece. All three are Christian nations. India began expanding its relations with Algeria, Cyprus, and Greece after Operation Sindoor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Cyprus. The naval exercise is being conducted in accordance with that mission. According to reports, the Indian Navy’s Talwar-class warship, INS Trikand, was deployed to Salamis and conducted naval exercises with three Greek naval ships in the Myrtoan Sea on September 17-18. Subsequently, the Indian warship arrived at a port in Limassol and conducted similar exercises with ships of the Cyprus National Guard Navy on September 24.
Turkey, infuriated by these exercises, issued an 18-hour ultimatum to the Indian ships. Turkey was planning to target the Indian ships with rockets. India took a bold step and sent three more ships equipped with BrahMos missiles, which calmed Turkey down. Our naval exercise with Greece is now complete.
