US President Donald Trump has so far imposed a total tariff of 50 percent on India. Even after this, Donald Trump is trying new tactics against India. A recently published media report claims that the White House has now urged European countries to increase pressure on India and impose sanctions.
According to India Today’s report, a few days after imposing 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, the Trump administration has talked to European countries. According to the report, the US wants that no European country should buy oil and gas from India. The Trump administration also wants Europe to impose secondary tariff on India.
The Trump administration is angry with India’s continuous purchase of large quantities of oil from Russia. The US administration also alleges that India is refining the crude oil purchased from Russia and selling it to European countries at a high price. Trump has also expressed objection in a threatening tone several times regarding India’s oil trade with Russia
Trump’s decision has no effect on India…
Despite US President Donald Trump imposing an additional 25 percent tariff on India, India’s economy has strengthened. India’s economy has registered a strong growth of 7.8 percent in the April-June quarter. The biggest reason for India’s economy remaining strong is that India’s economic growth is not export-based like other emerging markets. About 68 percent of India’s gross domestic product (GDP) comes from domestic consumption.
Donald Trump made a different claim
US President Donald Trump claimed that his tariffs have brought ‘trillions of dollars’ to the US economy. This statement came at a time when a federal appeals court ruled that he had overstepped his presidential authority by imposing tariffs without Congress’ approval.
Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social that prices in America are very low. Inflation is almost zero. Energy prices are falling rapidly. Trump claimed that he is bringing back trillions of dollars from countries that took advantage of America for decades.
