Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s complaints against the government and various constitutional bodies are growing like a sky tree day by day. Although Rahul’s complaints are quite long, their foundation is not that deep. As a result, the complaints are not able to stand for long and are falling to the ground. As a result, Rahul’s intentions are failing, along with which he is being criticized unnecessarily, which is weakening his political base and shattering his hopes of becoming the Prime Minister. Despite all this, Rahul is unwilling to understand his mistakes and keeps repeating the same mistakes like a child.
Recently, Rahul made such a baseless complaint regarding a foreigner, the scope of which was not limited only within the country but also spread across the country and abroad. And when its rebuttal came from the foreigner concerned from that country, then it became clear how absurd and baseless Rahul’s complaint was. He made a shocking allegation that a Brazilian model and young woman had voted at 22 polling stations under different names during the Haryana assembly elections last year. He revealed the name, address and photograph of the said young woman.
From this, it became clear that Rahul had made this allegation for political purposes, as part of the fabricated story of vote theft that he has been targeting the ruling party for the past few months. Because the day Rahul made this allegation at a crowded press conference, the day after the Bihar assembly elections were due. Due to the lack of a solid foundation, Rahul’s allegation fell flat on the ground and was not heard. Not only was it not a goal, but it was a same-side goal.
This agility of Rahul’s has not only been criticized by the opposition party. The Congress party itself has also reacted in this regard, in which it has been said that Rahul is always criticized for making superficial allegations without going into the content and searching for the truth. Now let’s get into the full story.
Rahul Gandhi claimed that a Brazilian model cast 22 votes in Haryana. He made this claim by showing the model’s photo. Rahul claimed that this woman sometimes voted under the name Sweety, sometimes under the name Seema and Bimla etc. Following Rahul’s claim, a woman named Pinky came forward and said that one of the 22 voter cards Rahul Gandhi showed in the name of the Brazilian model was hers, and that she had voted in the elections. The only problem was that a different photo was mistakenly printed on the card. However, a wrong photo does not make a voter card fake.
Rahul Gandhi has intensified his allegations of vote theft. Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission, he said that 2.5 million fake votes were cast in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections. He claimed that 521,000 duplicate voter entries were found, many of which used the same photo with different names. Rahul Gandhi alleged that 2.5 million votes were stolen in Haryana. In the same press conference, he cited another example: a woman’s photo, actually that of a Brazilian model, was listed 22 times in the state’s voter list under different names, such as “Sweety,” “Seema,” and “Saraswati.” Larissa, a Brazilian model, expressed shock at learning that her photo was allegedly used multiple times in Haryana’s voter list.
Several senior leaders within the Congress party have expressed the opinion that Rahul Gandhi should thoroughly verify facts before speaking from the stage. Claims without data are weakening the party’s credibility. They argue that Rahul Gandhi should now focus more on ground realities and policymaking than on public sentiment.
Over the past few years, Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly made statements that have placed him at the center of the opposition, but failed to establish him as a serious leader. The public is now viewing his speeches as emotional outbursts, not solid ideological ones. This is why his credibility is diminishing with each new controversy.
Experts say that if the Congress wants to emerge as a strong opposition in the future, it must abandon cunning politics and adopt a fact-based strategy. In the age of social media, the public quickly assesses facts—in such a context, politics based on illusions and lies cannot survive.
Ultimately, this latest controversy involving Rahul Gandhi proves once again that when a leader makes accusations against institutions without evidence, his lies don’t last long. This politics of deceit and propaganda has alienated Rahul Gandhi from the public, and forced the Congress party to introspect once again.
