Even though Pakistan is mediating a deal between the US and Iran, with a meeting scheduled in Islamabad on April 10 to discuss reconciliation, there is a self-interest behind this move. In its state of bankruptcy, the US is continuously providing financial aid and helping Pakistan secure loans from the World Bank and IMF; therefore, following the US’s lead is not just a compulsion but a necessity for Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is consistently receiving crude oil from Iran on credit. In essence, if a reconciliation occurs between the two nations, Pakistan’s basic survival will continue.
In the midst of this, some people are questioning India’s role, suggesting that India should have had a greater role than Pakistan in mediating between the US and Iran. This raises the question: Is India lagging behind in global diplomacy ?
The answer to this has emerged in a survey—India is no longer a country that begs the US like Pakistan. India is on the path to becoming a global power, and the entire world, including the US, is aware of this.
Big claim about India in the survey
In an online survey by ‘World of Statistics,’ the question was asked: ‘In whose hands should the World Order be ?’ The results were quite interesting. More than 19,000 people voted, with the US receiving the highest support at 28.6%, while China at 27.2% and the European Union at 25.1% remained in a close contest. But India surprised everyone with its claim in this survey; India received a total of 19% of the votes, which, although slightly less than the US and China, carries a much larger hidden message—India is rapidly carving out its place as an emerging global power.
Experts believe that this survey is not just a popularity figure but a sign of changing global equations. Over the past decade, the way India has strengthened its economic position has established it as a reliable and stable power on the world stage. Today, India is among the world’s fastest-growing major economies, and its role in forums like the G-20 is continuously increasing.
India is now economically strong
India’s strength is not limited to economic growth alone. Steps taken toward self-reliance in digital infrastructure, the startup ecosystem, manufacturing, and the defense sector have made it attractive to global investors. Along with this, India’s foreign policy has remained balanced and strategic, whether it be its partnership with the US or its relations with Russia and Middle Eastern countries. The US has continuously tried to pressure India regarding tariffs, but India has never compromised on its interests.
Pakistan’s economic health is well-known
While Pakistan is currently in the news for its mediation efforts between Iran and the US, it is nowhere to be seen in comparison to India in the global balance of power. This is because becoming a permanent power in international politics requires a strong economic foundation, technical capability, and global trust, all of which currently appear to be in India’s favor; Pakistan’s crumbling economy is visible to the entire world.
Analysts say that India’s role could become even more significant in the coming years. The goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy, a growing youth population, and India’s increasing share in the global supply chain could take it to new heights. Furthermore, India’s active participation in global issues like climate change, energy security, and digital governance is establishing it as a responsible global leader.
