He stated that Trump ruined the relationship by imposing tariffs on India and increasing his closeness with Pakistan.
Top US Democratic leader and former ambassador Rahm Emanuel has leveled sensational allegations against President Donald Trump. He said that Trump, in his pursuit of the Nobel Peace Prize, has put a 40-year strategic partnership with India at risk.
Furthermore, Emanuel also questioned Trump’s close ties with Pakistan, claiming that Trump’s son is receiving money from Islamabad. This statement raises tensions in US-India relations and raises questions about Trump’s policies. Emmanuel said that Trump pushed for a ceasefire between India and Pakistan and claimed it as his achievement and demanded the Nobel Prize.
India halted Operation Sindoor at the request of the Pakistani military. However, Trump claimed at least 50 times that he had forced both countries to bow down by threatening 200% tariffs.
Deteriorated relations due to Nobel Prize
Emanuel, who served as White House Chief of Staff during Barack Obama’s administration, said in an interview that India could have been a strong partner for the United States against China in manufacturing, technology, and military fields. But Trump squandered this opportunity due to his ego and pursuit of the Nobel Prize. He alleged that Trump had ruined 40 years of hard work by imposing a 50% tariff on India and developing close ties with Pakistan.
He said, “The president sacrificed the relationship built with India by Democratic and Republican administrations, even the progress made during his first term, for his ego and money from Pakistan.”
Money Connection to Pakistan
Emanuel accused Jack Witkoff, Trump’s son and son of his associate, Steve Witkoff, of receiving money from Pakistan. Jack Witkoff signed an agreement with the Pakistan Crypto Council in April 2025 to promote digital financial transactions. Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Jared Kushner are reportedly holding stakes in this company. Emmanuel cited this as a reason for Trump’s soft policy toward Pakistan.
