Is China presenting itself as an alternative to America? In the China Day parade, it showed its strength on the stage along with weapons. By 2030, China’s economy can be equal to America’s. BRICS is expanding, Chinese investment in Africa and Latin America is increasing. But the question is whether this leadership will be acceptable to everyone or will it create a new dominance?
What is the message when the world’s most powerful non-Western leaders stand on the same stage? On the morning of September 3, 2025, the China Day Parade was held in Beijing. Sharing the stage with Xi Jinping, the heads of more than 20 countries, including Russia, North Korea, Brazil, South Africa, were seen together. Was this just a show of power or is there some other big message hidden behind it?
What has Xi Jinping tried to prove by calling the top leaders of many countries on one stage? Is China really trying to establish itself as an alternative to America? Know this whole story!
China’s ambition of a new world order
China is no longer just an economic superpower, but is also claiming political and ideological leadership. Xi Jinping said from the stage of the China Day Parade: “We are working for a future in which all countries get equal respect and the right to development.”
BThis statement is not just for the domestic audience, but is being considered part of the strategy to present itself as a competitor to America on the global stage. Through BRICS, SCO and the Belt and Road Initiative, China has rapidly expanded its influence in Asia, Africa and Latin America. At the 2024 SCO summit, Xi Jinping said: “The world is becoming multipolar, the dominance of one country is no longer acceptable.” This was a direct message to the US – that China now wants leadership, not just participation.
Message of the China Day Parade: Unity and strength
The China Day parade brought together leaders from more than 20 countries on one stage. Russian President Vladimir Putin said from the stage: “This stage shows that despite Western pressure, we are united.”
North Korea’s Kim Jong Un also said: “Under China’s leadership, Asia’s voice will now be louder.”
. US-China-Taiwan affairs expert Wen-Ti Sung (Atlantic Council) says: “This parade is the biggest symbol of China’s global ambition, where military power as well as diplomatic power has been demonstrated.”
US vs China: New global contest
Xi Jinping recently criticized the “bullying politics” of Western countries, saying: “We have to leave behind the Cold War mentality and move towards partnership.”
Many experts believe that the SCO and China Day parades have shown that China has the power to unite non-Western countries, which challenges the unilateral system of America. In 2024, China became the largest trading partner of more than 120 countries. While the US is with only 80 countries. These figures show that China’s influence is constantly increasing.
India’s position: balance and challenges
This situation is quite complex for India. On the one hand, sharing the stage with China in BRICS and SCO, on the other hand, border dispute and partnership with America in QUAD.
India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had said: “India does not accept the dominance of any country, whether it is from the East or the West.”
Strategic affairs expert Harsh Pant (ORF) believes: “India will have to further strengthen its independent foreign policy, so that it can maintain a balance between the two poles.”
By 2030, China’s economy can be equal to America’s. BRICS is expanding, Chinese investment in Africa and Latin America is increasing. But the question is will this leadership be acceptable to everyone or will it create a new dominance?
Actually, it is because of Donald Trump that China’s stature has increased these days, China is the second largest economic power in the world, it is because of Trump that India has also improved relations with China. However, there are still many such obstacles which create obstacles in considering China as the second pole of world politics. But it is definitely being accepted that from an economic-strategic point of view, China’s position has now become second after America.
Till now, in terms of economic power and civilian science and technology, the European Union considered itself to be equally entitled to this claim, while in terms of weapons and also in terms of strategic technology, Russia was given the second place after America. But now after the Ukraine war, both these claims have collapsed.
In contrast, China has a very large and technically skilled population, there is no dearth of economic resources, and it also does not have a fighting diplomatic temperament.
Except for India, China has either completely resolved its border disputes with almost all its neighbours or has created a system so that they do not get out of control. This is the reason that although China’s nominal GDP figure is currently less than 20 trillion dollars compared to America’s 30 trillion dollars, but in terms of purchasing power (PPP), its GDP is one-third more than America, that is, it has crossed the figure of 40 trillion.
China is the only country among the world’s largest economies that is consistently presenting positive figures in both trade balance and fiscal balance. On this basis, China took the initiative to implement the New Development Bank in 2015 from the platform of BRICS in front of powerful financial institutions like the World Bank and the IMF and recently got the proposal of the SCO Bank passed, which aims to move towards non-dollar trade.
American economy drowned in debt
Actually, it is also a reality that the dollar itself is a baseless currency, the American economy is deeply drowned in debt and the American government is unnecessarily taking advantage of its currency being the world currency.
With pure economic logic, the task of giving a systematic form to non-dollar trade can be possible in the coming days with the initiative of China and the SCO Bank can also play a decisive role in this.
China has already become the second largest power in the world, but there are two questions about the way forward. Firstly, the system of change of power every ten years in China was established by Deng Xiaoping since 1980. Xi Jinping has broken it. Secondly, despite the promise of refraining from claiming to be a superpower, the communist leadership of China does not miss any opportunity to threaten and show their place to the neighbours.
