“The Bombay High Court has decided to watch the film ‘Ajay: The Untold Story of a Yogi’ based on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The court will watch the film this weekend and will pronounce the order on Monday. The film has been produced by Samrat Cinematic Production House.
Initially, the Censor Board (CBFC) rejected the producer’s certification application without even watching the film. The production house approached the High Court against this. The court directed the CBFC to watch the film and then take a decision. After this, the CBFC’s Examination Committee watched the film, but rejected the certification without giving any concrete reason.
What argument did the producers give on the CBFC’s decision?
The matter reached the court again, where the CBFC counted 29 dialogues as to why the film was not approved. The producers argued that the film has been stopped without any proper reason. After this, the CBFC’s Revising Committee watched the film and removed 8 reasons, but retained 21 reasons and rejected the film again. Producers say It is that neither clear cuts and edits were mentioned, nor concrete reasons were given, only 21 reasons were listed.
Bombay High Court’s decision to watch the film
On this, the High Court said that now it will watch the film itself and give its order on Monday. Actor Ajay Mengi, who played the lead role in the film, said, “We have tried a lot to get the censor board to give a certificate to the film, but when the attempt failed, we knocked the door of Bombay High Court. We hope that the court will give us justice and whatever the court says will be acceptable to us.”
