A bizarre political incident has emerged from Dombivali, Maharashtra, involving workers from the BJP and Congress. BJP workers forced a Congress functionary, Prakash Pagare, to wear a saree in public and filmed the event. This action was reportedly in retaliation for an objectionable social media post Pagare allegedly made about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP workers stated they took this action “because Prakash Pagare insulted Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi”. The BJP workers involved were identified as Nand Kishore Parabh, Sandeep Mali, Dutta Malekar, and Karan Madan Zadao.
“Congress worker Prakash ‘Mama’ Pagare shared a morphed photo of PM Modi on social media, showing him wearing a sari. BJP leaders say an offensive song was also included in the post.”
“This has led to a flurry of political rhetoric from both parties. Congress alleges that if the post was offensive, a police complaint should have been filed.”
According to a Times of India report, 73-year-old Congress worker Prakash ‘Mama’ Pagare shared a morphed photo of PM Modi on social media, showing him wearing a sari. BJP leaders say an offensive song was also included in the post. Pagare is a well-known leader from Ulhasnagar and is known for his outspokenness.”
“As soon as this post surfaced, BJP leaders were enraged. Pagare was allegedly called by BJP workers and forced to wear a sari. A video circulating on social media shows some people holding a man’s hand and forcing him to wear a sari. It is reported that BJP Kalyan District President Nandu Parab was leading this protest against the Congress leader.
According to the report, Parab said, “Sharing such a photo of our Prime Minister is not only insulting but also unacceptable. If such attempts to insult our leaders continue, the BJP will respond even more strongly.”
Congress Kalyan chief Sachin Pote told the newspaper, “Pagare is 73 years old and a senior party worker. If he had shared something objectionable, BJP leaders should have filed a police complaint instead of forcing him to wear a sari.”
