The election of the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party has been postponed for some reason or the other since last year. One of the reasons for the delay in the election of the national president is that the distance between the BJP top leadership and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has increased. However, in the last few days, everything seems to have become normal between the RSS and the BJP. In such a situation, it is now being assumed that the BJP and the RSS are going to jointly approve the name of the new national president of the BJP soon.
This statement hurt the RSS
Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP national president JP Nadda made such a statement, which deeply hurt the RSS. In fact, JP Nadda said that now the BJP does not need the Sangh. This statement of the BJP national president changed the entire game of the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP also had to bear its losses in the Lok Sabha elections. It is believed that the Sangh workers reluctantly supported the BJP.
Due to which the non-party had to be content with only 240 seats. Over time, the gap between the BJP and the RSS started widening. To bridge this gap, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the work of the RSS many times. On 15 August, he praised the RSS from the Red Fort and said that it is the largest NGO in the world.
Later, at an RSS program at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, its chief Mohan Bhagwat said that be it politics or social service, there is no age for retirement. Earlier, Mohan Bhagwat had said that people should retire from their posts on their own after completing the age of 75. It is noteworthy that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will step down at the age of 75 in just four days.
Along with this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised the RSS. Amit Shah said that he is very proud to be a volunteer. Being an RSS worker cannot be a negative point. No volunteer should stop until India becomes great again. After the statement of the top BJP leader and the RSS chief, it is understood that the relationship between the two has started to normalize again. In such a situation, the chances have once again increased that a decision will be taken on the name of the BJP national president soon.
These names are in the running
Many names are being discussed for the post of BJP national president. But Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is considered the strongest contender for the post of national president. The names of Union Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar, Dharmendra Pradhan and Nitin Gadkari are also in the running. However, both BJP and Sangh have a joint consensus on Shivraj’s name.
Earlier, the Sangh had put a lot of pressure on making Sanjay Joshi the president. But it is believed that Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were not in favour of making Sanjay Joshi the party president. Later, both the parties agreed to agree on an acceptable name. As a result, it is believed that the interference of the Sangh in major decisions of the party has reduced during the Modi-Shah era. Recently, there have been signs of a change in the relationship between the BJP and the RSS, with the RSS trying to gain more control over the organisation. However, on the birthday of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Prime Minister Modi tried to make the RSS pay.
