Bye bye to old rates – Hello, hi to new rates
The NDA government has made a big change in the GST slabs imposed 9 years ago. About 150 crore citizens of the country are going to get its benefits before Diwali. The government has changed the 4 GST slabs implemented earlier into 2 slabs. Due to this, the prices of some essential commodities are going to be reduced for the common citizen from September 22.
Now, a detail of which essential commodities are going to be reduced in price is given below.
Oil, shampoo, soap – The government has reduced the 18 percent GST previously imposed on oil, soap and shampoo to a 5 percent slab. This means that shampoo, which was previously available at Rs 118 with GST, will now be available at Rs 105. This calculation will also be applied to oil and soap.
Biscuits and saltines – The government had earlier imposed 18 and 12 percent GST on biscuits and saltines respectively. Earlier, you used to pay 60 paisa tax on saltines worth Rs 5. Now, as it has come to the 5 percent slab, you will have to pay only 25 paisa tax on saltines worth Rs 5. Similarly, earlier, 18 percent tax was paid on biscuits, now you will have to pay only 25 paisa tax.
Milk and cheese: People who consume milk and cheese are the biggest beneficiaries. Because in the previous GST slab, 12 percent tax was levied on milk and cheese. Now, as the government has included these two items in the zero tax slab, consumers will benefit.

Educational materials – The government has completely exempted tax on materials used in the education of young children. Earlier, 12 percent tax was imposed on educational materials like rubber, cutter, globe, exercise books, graph books. But in the new slab, complete GST has been exempted on these materials.
Electronic materials: Earlier, the government had imposed 18 to 28 percent GST on electronic materials like TV, fridge, AC, water heater. But now, 5 to 12 percent tax will be levied on these materials.
