21st Century Belongs to India: Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott made a bold prediction on Friday. He said that the 21st century belongs to India. He said that in the next 40-50 years, any Indian Prime Minister could achieve the distinction of taking over the leader of the free world from the United States. Tony Abbott also said that India should maintain a democratic balance against China in the Asia-Pacific region and become a strong and reliable partner for Australia.
“China wants to become a hegemonic power”
Tony Abbott said that India’s free trade deals with Australia in 2022 and the United Kingdom last month are signs that the democratic world is gradually moving away from China. Speaking to MDTV on Friday, Abbott also detailed India’s relationships with China, Pakistan, and the United States. He said Delhi holds the key to stopping Beijing’s ambitions to dominate the world. He described China as seeking to become a hegemonic power and as a threat to all its neighbors and the world.
A lot of infrastructure work is underway in India.
Tony Abbott said that India acts as a balance to China. Now that it has become the world’s most populous country, he said, “Go to any city in India, there’s a lot of infrastructure work going on, and new airports, roads, and other developments are rapidly being built.” He added, “When I was Prime Minister, I said that India would emerge as a democratic superpower. And now it’s come true. In the next 40-50 years, India’s Prime Minister could emerge as the leader of the free world.”
What Tony Abbott said about tariffs
Tony Abbott said that US President Donald Trump took a wrong step towards India. He said, “I’m a Trump supporter, but I think he did India an injustice, especially when some other countries, like China, which buy more oil than India, didn’t receive such punishment.”
