
. The drug problem in India is steadily increasing. The government has begun taking strict measures to curb it. In response, based on the NCB report, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is taking a major action, deporting thousands of foreign nationals from the country.
According to Home Ministry sources, 16,000 foreign nationals involved in drug trafficking in India will be deported. These individuals have been found involved in drug trafficking, drug transportation, and other related crimes. They are in custody in various states, and their lists have been handed over to the relevant agencies.
This action includes citizens from neighboring countries like Bangladesh, the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Ghana, and Nigeria. Based on the NCB report, this is considered the Indian government’s largest action against drug abuse to date.
Over 10 million kilograms of drugs have been seized in the last 10 years.
This major step is being taken in accordance with the new immigration law. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force will play a crucial role here. Over 10 million kilograms of drugs have been seized in the last 10 years, compared to only 2.6 million kilograms between 2005 and 2014. It is being said that if the fight against drug abuse is not fought vigorously in the next ten years, the battle could be lost. Experts say that not just small prosecutions, but entire drug cartels must be dismantled.
Over 4,000 kilograms of narcotics destroyed
On the other hand, in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah, over 4,000 kilograms of narcotics were destroyed today in various parts of the country. This action was carried out in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau and police from various states. Over the next 15 days, 1 lakh kilograms of narcotics, with a market value of over ₹4,000 crore, will be destroyed across the country.

The country with the largest drug supply worldwide is close to India, so the fight against drugs must be waged vigorously. Now, our fight is to dismantle the drug supply cartels, not just the retail drug trade. From drug entry points to drug shops, to supply points, and from shops to packets, everyone must fight together against this cartel. The Drug Free India campaign is underway in 372 districts, and more than 100 million people are involved.
Smugglers are coming from these countries
According to MHA sources, the 16,000 foreign nationals being deported are from countries like Bangladesh, the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Ghana, and Nigeria. Citizens of these countries are involved in drug trafficking. These smugglers are detained in various states. Their list has been submitted to the MHA. This action is being taken under new immigration laws. Over 10 million kilograms of drugs have been seized in the last 10 years, a fourfold increase from 2.6 million kilograms between 2005 and 2014. The NCB has cracked down on heroin smuggling from the Myanmar-Bangladesh border, cocaine from African countries, and methamphetamine from Southeast Asia. A drug kingpin was recently deported from Malaysia.
4,000 Kilograms of Drugs Burned
In today’s operation, 4,000 kilograms of drugs were destroyed in Shah’s presence. The goal is to destroy drugs worth ₹4,000 crore over the next 15 days. This operation focuses on curbing both the demand and supply of drugs. The NCB has appealed to the public to share information on the toll-free number 1933. Experts say increased surveillance and diplomatic coordination in border areas is essential. This action is a major step towards making India drug-free and strengthening its image globally.
